Money for Nothing

Remember Dire Straits? Money for Nothing, any song with Sting crooning "I want my MTV" is pure gold. What about Romeo & Juliet? Remember that great scene from Empire Records when the uber-dorky stoner Mark (with a K) dusts off the ballerina's shoe? Yup Dire Straits. And of course there are the other classics, Sultans of Swing and Walk of Life. Ya'll should check out their Money for Nothing album, it's got all the classics and more, including my personal favorite "Portobello Belle."

Triste

Is it bad that I still get teary eyed when I see photographs of Rome, or Florence, or anywhere else I was in Italy?

In other news, Red Ball photos are up.

Torture er Workout Sessions

We folks over in Odells 15 have come to the conclusion that we're lazy, plus Bishop needed to fit into a dress for the Red Ball. We spent a lot of time trying to think of a solution to this problem, and have decided that the only possible solution that wouldn't threaten our lifestyle habits would be to start exercising. So starting this past Monday we've been frequenting the gym in a brave attempt to whip ourselves into shape.

There are five of us, myself, my two roommates, Minnie and our coach, Leanne, the torture queen. Let me tell you a little bit about Leanne, she is a year behind me and she is a cross country runner. Not just any cross country runner, she is the number one cross country runner. For a year I ran on the same team as Leanne and I learned a little bit about her, namely that she has no off switch. She runs the same pace as she races, always.

So, Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays are running days. On running days we play a little game. I like to call it laps of torture, but Leanne refers to it as "The Game." LoT goes a little something like this, all of us out of shape people run around the track while Leanne sprints around the track. When Leanne catches us we have to run with her for as long as we can, or as it has since become, as long as Leanne determines that we should be able to run with her. This is not a fun game.

Tuesdays and Thursdays we stumble to the gym at various times and lift lots of weights and do fun ab workouts. This exercises muscles that I haven't exercised since high school Cross Country. Thus, I am in substantial amounts of pain.

Anyway, the Red Ball is tonight, hopefully Bishop will fit into her dress, and the rest of us will be able to move enough to dance our socks off. More information to follow.
